Ground Beef Nachos with Homemade President Cheddar Cheese Sauce






For the beef:
• Minced beef - 500g
• Olive oil - 2 tbsp
• Garlic cloves, minced - 2
• Onion, finely chopped - ½ cup
• Onion powder - 1 tsp
• Dried oregano - 1 tsp
• Salt - 1 tsp
• Paprika - 2 tsp
• Tomato paste - 2 tbsp
• Water - 2 tbsp
• Corn chips - 500g
• President Cheddar Cheese, shredded - 250g

For the cheddar cheese sauce:
• President Cheddar Cheese, shredded - 250g
• President Unsalted Butter - 2 tbsp
• Flour - 2 tbsp
• Milk - 1 cup


• In a skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Cook the garlic and onion for 2-3 minutes or until translucent.
• Add the beef and cook for 5 minutes or until cooked thoroughly.
• Add the onion powder, oregano, salt, paprika, tomato paste and water. Mix well and continue cooking for two more minutes. Set aside.
• Preheat the oven to 180°C.
• To prepare the sauce, cook the flour with President Unsalted Butter in a small pot. Whisk the mixture for 2 minutes or until bubbly.
• Add the milk and continue whisking until the mixture is thick enough to coat a spoon.
• Add President Cheddar Cheese gradually and continue whisking until it melts. Season with salt if needed.
• Spread a layer of corn chips on a baking tray. Top with a layer of the cheddar cheese sauce, a layer of the beef mixture, and finally a layer of the President Cheddar Cheese. Repeat the layers.
• Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes.
• Enjoy a delicious Iftar with your family!
